2649, Islington Avenue Homeopathy in Canada 2015 On April 1,
2015, Ontario became thefirst province in Canada to legally regulate Homeopathy
when the Homeopathy Act2007 came into effect. This sets out the terms for
establishing homeopathy asone of 28 self-regulated health professions in
Ontario. It implies that
from April 1, 2015 onwards only those who are registered with the
College can use the title “Homeopath.” The criteria to get registered to
the collegeis mainly through Individual Assessment Exam based on the competency
profilefor entry to practice homeopaths in Ontario. The registered homeopaths
willhenceforth come under the purview of the Regulated
HealthProfessions Act, 1991 and areaccountable to the College of
Homeopaths of Ontario to provide safe, competentand ethical practice. An interesting feature of this
development is that it isglobal regulation and any qualified homeopath from any
part of the world canbecome registered homeopath of Ontario by meeting the
entry requirements of thecollege. A move for amalgamation or forming
acoalition with more than 16provincial/federal homeopathic associations
into one national Homeopathic Association in Canadahave been mooted
recently from to createa single united voice for homeopathy in Canada.
